Backstory

According to reliable witnesses (Mom and Dad), I've been verbal from the moment I was born. Since then, my vocabulary has reportedly improved.

In former careers, I have been a writer-director of corporate documentaries, copywriter for promotional brochures and project proposals, scriptwriter for multimedia programs and computer games, and a speechwriter for senior executives in technology, communications, and consumer products.

I am new to the world of fiction, although from a certain point of view that's what I've always been writing.

I attended Syracuse University (B.A., Magna Cum Laude, International Relations, with unofficial minors in Broadcasting and Physics) and the University of Southern California (M.F.A., Cinema). Currently I'm a member of the Gotham Writers' Workshop, New York, and the Online Writers Workshop for Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror. I also teach interactive design and production at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. [links below]

WET MIND (aka "The Levinson Threshold")

Screenplay by Peter Mackey
Based on a story by Andrew Bonime

In a village untouched by the future—where SenseNet, the monitoring extension of the Congregate Intelligence, has yet to penetrate—a family's quiet life is falling apart. Their son is having visions which erupt into violence. He claims to see Cybs, artificial humans who appear normal to everyone else. His counselor, having come from the city to cure his delusions, buys time to look for answers. But what she discovers raises startling questions for herself and the boy's family about the meaning of being human in a world ruled by technology.

Published by Far Sector SFFH. Available at Fictionwise.com.

SHORT STORY A teacher's random scribblings reveal a surprising truth about her identity. Forced to confront her true nature, and its implications for the community she has grown to love, she faces a serious decision about her future.

DIGGERS

SHORT STORY In a world where dirt is unequivocally evil, growing tomatoes can get you into a pile of trouble. That is, unless you know about the secret passage behind the toilet in the Curds N' Pudding Shop. Guy and Suki do find love behind the compost piles in the subfarm, but the sniffers are everywhere.

LIVING COOL

SHORT STORYIn this crushing desert heat, that ice machine, miles from nowhere, sure looks inviting. The sign on it says "out-of-order", though. So how come the shopkeeper lets you have a block of ice from it?

THE KINCAID RESONANCE

NOVEL IN PROGRESS An enterprising virtual reality producer seeks revenge for the destruction of her studio. She coaxes out of self-imposed exile the recluse inventor of a powerful faster-than-light communications device -- the Quantum Phase Resonator, or QPR. In fact, strange, apparently unrelated, incidents of destruction have been occurring all over the earth. The cause: his invention, which is being misused by the multi-tentacled corporation who controls it. Now, the leader of a new religion, obsessed with an ancient Martian legend about the ending of time, plans to use the device in a cult festival on Mars, New Year's Eve, 2099, with potentially apocalyptic consequences.
